The records consist of reports, newsletters, and board minutes of state and regional Lutheran welfare organizations and local Lutheran welfare institutions (predominately child care, care for the elderly, and hospitals) that were sent either to the American Lutheran Church headquarters or to the Welfare Division of the National Lutheran Council. These records were accumulated by the Archives of the American Lutheran Church at Wartburg Theological Seminary, Dubuque, Iowa. They are not organizational records of the ALC Social Service Division.
