Historical

Boys Into Gardening was founded in 1990 as a non-profit, Twin Cities gay men's gardening group. Glenn Rath organized the first meeting, and Jeff Nelson suggested the name and acronym (BIG) for the group at their second meeting. The Boys Into Gardening mission statement declares: "We are an informal group of gay men who share a common interest in gardening. As a garden club we are dedicated to realizing our goals; to promote an interest in gardening in all forms; to increase our knowledge and skills of gardening; and to network and socialize with other members." The group has meetings once or twice a month for gardeners of all experiences.
