Joanie Evans grew up in Birmingham and moved to London at the age of 21 where she went to college and became involved in LGBT sports. She is an early member of a lesbian soccer team based in Hackney, which was the first women run and out lesbian team in London. She is the co-president of the Federation of Gay Games Board.
