Scope and Content Note

The collection contains memoranda and correspondence from November 1948 about the operation of the EDVAC including a Moore School memorandum and Higinbotham's memorandum; an United States Atomic Energy Commission (AEC) memorandum on EDVAC support from January 1949 and related outgoing AEC correspondence from 1948-1949. Also included is a letter from R. E. Meagher to Gerald F. Tape of Brookhaven concerning the construction of an ILLIAC-type machine at Brookhaven.

Biographical Note

William A. Higinbotham, of Brookhaven National Laboratory, prepared a memorandum for the United States Atomic Energy Commission on the status of the EDVAC project in late 1948. He also investigated the possibility of Brookhaven constructing an ILLIAC-type machine in 1955.
