Biographical Note
Russell K. Hobbie was a professor in the School of Physics and Astronomy at the University of Minnesota. He received his bachelor of science degree from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) in 1956 and his master's degree and PhD from Harvard University in 1957 and 1960, respectively. He worked in various positions at the University of Minnesota from 1960 through 1998, beginning as a research associate and ending his career as a full professor of physics. He published Intermediate Physics for Medicine and Biologyand other books and articles, as well as the computer program MacDose, designed to teach about the interaction of radiation and matter.
