<emph render="bold">Biographical Sketch</emph>

Biographical Sketch Theodor Geisel was born March 2, 1904, in Springfield Massachusetts, and died September 24, 1991. Under the name Dr. Seuss he was one of the leading children's authors of the twentieth century, creating rhyming fantasy worlds peopled by nonsense characters such as the Cat in the Hat and the Grinch. He won several major awards, including a Pulitzer Prize in 1984.
