Biographical / Historical

Records on the Summer Work Training Program, designed to provide employment opportunities for at-risk youth aged 14-15 years, giving them a summer work experience supplemented by counseling, education, and work orientation from 1963-1967. According to program materials, the goal of the program is to "help boys see the value of a continuing education, to acquire a greater understanding of their vocational goals and aspirations; to gain additional skills in reading, mathematics; communication skills which will assist them in school and in future job situations; and to improve in social and personality adjustments in group and adult relationships."
