BIOGRAPHY OF JAMES F. WHYTE

James F. Whyte began his YMCA career in 1936 in Ohio, where he served as a branch executive and camping secretary. By the early 1960s, he had moved to New Jersey, where he served on the Central Atlantic Area Council and was the executive director at the Frost Valley Association, a camp and conference center in the Catskills. He began work at the YMCA of Greater New York in 1965 as the executive for special services. He held several executive positions in New York City, including vice president for communications and membership services. He retired in January 1979 as assistant to the president.
