Archives and Special Collections, Northeast Minnesota Historical Center Collections

The collection contains architects' drawings and specifications for buildings. Almost all the plans are for structures in northeastern Minnesota, with some plans by local architects for buildings in other areas.

Typed copies of letters loaned to the St. Louis County Historical Society for copying in 1931. The letters were "...found at Fond du Lac by Dr. Richard Bardon four or five years ago." according to a memoranda from the St. Louis County Historical Society president January 29, 1931, copied by Helen J. Peterson, St. Louis County Historical Society office staff, February 5, 1931.

This collection consists of campaign bumper stickers, posters, circulars, advertisements, and pamphlets used in Minnesota for local, state, and national elections. The collection also includes news clippings and informational sheets containing the results of elections.

The collection contains items originally made for one-time impact or for informational purposes such as advertisements, announcements, broadsides, bumper stickers, calendars, flyers, handbills, invitation, letterheads, menus, programs, and tickets. The collection includes a series of pin-back buttons related to events and organizations.

The collection consists of photograph albums from various photographers and collectors.

This collection consists of visual images arranged by subject, name, or format.

All postcards donated to the archives are added to this collection. The cards are arranged by the subjects used in the general historical photograph collection; the subjects are filed alphabetically.

The collection contains posters for events, publications, and organizations from Duluth and northeastern Minnesota.

Consists of two audio recordings of an interview with H. Watson Wilson. The interview, conducted by Barbara Sommer on behalf of the Northeast Minnesota Historical Center, took place on March 23, 1977.

While surveying the collections of the NEMHC for the Minnesota Radicalism project, these items were identified as potentially useful for labor development research. Additional materials will be added to this collection as they are donated and appropriate.

The collection contains receipts, letters, insurance documents, daily statements and miscellaneous items removed from the newspaper clippings files about logging to establish a small collection of items related to logging companies.

The map collection contains maps of the United States and Canada, the Midwest Area, Great Lakes, Michigan, Wisconsin, Minnesota, and more detailed maps of the counties, towns, mines, etc.

This open collection contains news clippings, annual reports, quarterly stockholder reports and prospectuses; and promotional materials from and about the Minnesota Power and Light Company, now known as Minnesota Power.

This collection contains special issues of newspapers pertinent to local history, covering a variety of topics such as anniversary or dedicatory occasions and so forth.

The collection contains printed materials issued "for" (Greater Duluth Committee, Emil S. Gustafson, chair and William McEwen, campaign manager) and "against" (The Committee of Two Thousand, W. B. Getchell, chair) a proposal to make traffic improvements at the Point of Rocks.

Collection contains letters on letterhead stationery, marketing materials, and certificates.

This collection was created preserve the assortment of theater, opera, and movie theater programs and circulars previously in the vertical files of the NEMHC.
