Duluth, Missabe and Iron Range Railway Company

The collection contains three land books containing land locations, land and timber sales information, deed dates and records of land payments of the properties held by the Chicago, Rock Island and Pacific Railway.

The collection contains illustrated calendars issued by the Duluth Missabe and Iron Range Railway Company.

The collection consists of a training film and reel to reel audiotape from 1958.

The collection contains photographs, slides, and negatives, 1901-1954; Weekly Activity Letters to the Board of Directors from the General Manager, 1949-1980; speeches by General Manager Fred Voss, 1954-1961; and a small amount of Duluth, Missabe, and Northern employee information, primarily car shop employees, 1894-1902.

The Duluth, Missabe and Iron Range Railway depot, the Endion Station, located at 1504 South Street, Duluth, was relocated in the summer of 1986 to the area of waterfront development called the Corner of the Lake. This video is the raw footage of the relocation of the building from its original site to the Corner of the Lake area near Canal Park.

The collection contains personal and financial correspondence, letterpress books, scrapbooks, newspaper clippings, manuscripts written about local and family history, financial records, legal papers, maps, photographs, one audio cassette of an interview, and reference materials.

The collection consists of the transcript of a slide lecture, which described the history of the Duluth Missabe & Iron Range Railroad and the predominant role it played in the development of the Vermilion and Mesabi Ranges; the eventual decline of red ores; and the growth of the taconite pellet industry in Minnesota.

The collection consists exclusively of negatives. The nearly 1000 negatives cover the dates 1942-1954 and were apparently made for the Duluth, Missabe & Iron Range railroad and the Oliver Iron Mining Co.
