Scope and Contents

Series 7, Biographical Information, contains articles, speeches, correspondence, notes, print materials, and memoranda concerning individuals prominent in the National Recreation Association. The records also contain substantive information on the early years and philosophy of the Playground Association of America (PAA), the National Recreation Association (NRA), and the playground and recreation movement. Howard Braucher, secretary of the PAA and NRA from 1909 to 1941 and President of the NRA from 1941-1949, is represented most extensively in Series 18: Howard Braucher. In addition, Braucher's notes on meetings and correspondence with these individuals are interspersed throughout the files.
