Historical Note

The United States Youth Council was a federation of youth and student associations that coordinated youth activities, conducted research, promoted youth social justice and leadership programs, and coordinated with international youth organizations. It was an affiliate of the National Assembly of National Voluntary Health and Social Welfare Organizations, the U.S. Young Adult Council, and the World Assembly of Youth. Voter rights and registration for 18-year-olds, social justice campaigns, youth conferences and the improvement of libraries in Southern schools are among the projects discussed in the collection.
