Scope and Content

All of the materials were assembled during research for the biography Betty Leonard wrote about her father, the social reformer Eduard Lindeman. A small portion represents materials that had remained in the family since Eduard Lindeman's death in 1953. She collected the remainder from a variety of sources including original or copies of letters from friends and professional colleagues and transcripts prepared from interviews that she conducted with her father's colleagues.

Biographical Note

Elizabeth (Betty) Lindeman Leonard was a social work educator and the daughter and biographer of Eduard C. Lindeman. She held positions in the schools of social work at Portland State University and the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. She wrote Friendly Rebel: A Personal and Social History of Eduard C. Lindeman.
