The collection contains personal correspondence, publications, letters, pamphlets and leaflets on the topics of abortion, child welfare and public housing. Part of the collection consists of papers regarding the Senior Services Project of Hennepin County Health and Welfare Council.

Biographical Note
Irene Hoebel was active in Minnesota politics and social welfare organizations. In the early 1960s, she was executive secretary to Arthur Naftialis, mayor of Minneapolis. In the late 1960s, Ms. Hoebel served as president of the Minnesota Council for the Legal Termination of Pregnancy (MCLPT). Other social welfare issues that were of importance to Ms. Hoebel include public housing, child welfare and services to seniors in the community.
