Biographical / Historical

Dialoog was a literary and political magazine published by COC Netherlands, a Dutch LGBT rights group founded in 1946. It was only published from 1965 to 1969, but it had substantial impact on conversations about homosexuality in the Netherlands. Significant contributors include Gerard Reve and Johan Polak. In particular, one of Reve's stories published in the magazine caused huge controversy. In the story, the narrator describes having sex with Jesus, who has been reincarnated as a donkey. Reve was subsequently tried for blasphemy and his case was taken as far as the Supreme Court, which acquitted him, and set a presedence for not enforcing the Netherlands' blasphemy law.
