Historical Note
The National Education Association Gay and Lesbian Caucus (NEA-GLC), now the National Education Association Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual, and Transgender Caucus (NEA-GLBTC) was founded in 1987. The NEA-GLC worked to increase visibility of GLBT issues faced by students and staff and believes that schools should be safe for all students promote the rights of GLBT students and members of the Association, advance understanding and acceptance of GLBT people. The NEA-GLC supports awareness of and intervention on behalf of students who are harassed based on their sexual orientation.
