Historical Note

The Network for LGBT Concerns in Occupational Therapy works to advanced understanding of sexual orientation issues among practitioners in the occupational therapy field. The Network was founded at the American Occupational Therapy Association (AOTA) conference in Houston in 1992. The first annual Network meeting was held the following year in Seattle with 60 people in attendance. As of 2014, membership has grown to 350 people. In addition to providing professional support and mentorship, the Network seeks to actively promote research in line with its mission. The organization was formerly known as the Network for GLBT Concerns in Occupational Therapy.
