The College of Agriculture collection consists of administrative materials assembled from different units associated with agricultural education, research and outreach at the University. User’s will find materials from the following units: The Department of Agriculture (1917-1952), the Institute of Agriculture (1952-1971), the Institute of Agriculture, Forestry and Home Economics (1971-1997), the College of Agriculture, Forestry and Home Economics (1917-1971), The College of Agriculture, Food, and Environmental Sciences (1995-2006) and the College of Agriculture (1982-1997). Materials from the higher level administrative units—the Department of Agriculture and the Institutes of Agriculture are interspersed with materials from the College of Agriculture, Forestry and Home Economics. Users looking for materials from the Colleges and Schools of Forestry, and Home Economics should consult those separate collections.

Material types in the collection include reports, minutes, personal and professional correspondence, letter books, memos, circulars, research synopses, publications, photographs, historical materials, planning documents, financial materials, program reviews and self-studies, surveys, news clippings, scrapbooks, journals, field notebooks, biographies, interview transcripts, time books and property inventories.

Several series are further subdivided into subseries by subject matter and/or material type. Inclusive dates for the collection are 1887 to 1997. Bulk dates are 1940-1979.
