Historical Note
The department of civil and mineral engineering was formed on July 1, 1970 when the University of Minnesota realigned the mineral and metallurgical engineering coursework into the Institute of Technology's current department of civil engineering and applied hydraulics. In 1994, the department changed its name to civil engineering.
