Scope and Content
Collection 140 contains materials regarding a Rockefeller Foundation Grant awarded to the Center for Advanced Feminist Studies to fund various programs and workshops from 1988-1994. Other materials include correspondence, memos, curriculum and syllabi, seminar papers, administrative papers, publications and financial reports.
Collection 2005-0041 contains Ways of Reading materials including annual reports, Ford proposals, budget information, area studies, course information and readings, faculty information and publications, and Ford Foundation Annual Reports.

Historical Note
The Center for Advanced Feminist Studies (CAFS) was established at the University of Minnesota in 1983 in response to interest in the accomplishments of the University's women's studies program. CAFS "seeks to foster collaborative interdisciplinary research among feminist scholars, and to transform traditional disciplines and fields of study through the application of new data, methods, theories, and frameworks generated by feminist scholarship." The center offered graduate education in feminist method and theory, with this curriculum leading to a Ph.D. program in feminist studies within the women's studies department. In addition to graduate coursework, CAFS also offered seminars, workshops and speakers in the field of feminist studies.
