Biographical Sketch of William T. Harris (1910-1984)
William Thomas Harris Jr. was born on December 13, 1910 in St. Paul, Minnesota. He earned his B.A. in journalism from the University of Minnesota in 1932. Harris was an editor for publications in Algona, Iowa and Mankato, Minnesota from 1933 to 1941. From 1941 to 1946, he served in the Army Air Force. Upon his discharge from the Army, Harris joined the staff at the University of Minnesota's news service. In 1946, he joined the staff of the University relations department and was appointed as assistant director in 1962. Harris retired from the University of Minnesota in 1971. In 1972, Harris served as the chief press steward for the Olympics in Munich, Germany. William T. Harris died on September 29, 1984.
