Biographical Note

Barbara Baxter Pillinger was the director of academic honors programs and professor in the College of Education at the University of Minnesota. She earned a B.S. from the University of Illinois in 1956, M.S. from Smith College (Northampton, MA), Ed.M. in 1964 and Ed.D. in 1972 from Harvard University. Dr. Pillinger joined the faculty at the University of Minnesota in 1977. Beginning in 1981, Dr. Pillinger was involved in multiple legal disputes with the University of Minnesota regarding the tenure process. Between 1981 and 1984, Dr. Pillinger brought three Rajender sex discrimination suits against the University and its administration because of an unfair tenure process. The lawsuits were settled in 1984.
