Biographical Sketch of Lawrence D. Steefel (1894-1976)
Lawrence Dinkelspiel Steefel was born in Rochester, New York on June 25, 1894. He earned his B.A. in 1916, M.A. in 1917 and Ph.D. in 1923 from Harvard University. Dr. Steefel joined the faculty at the University of Minnesota in 1923 at the rank of instructor of history. He was promoted through the ranks, retiring in 1959 as professor emeritus. Lawrence Steefel died on October 28, 1976.
