Historical Note

Sigma Alpha Iota is the professional music fraternity for women. It was established on June 12, 1903 at the University of Michigan. The Sigma Sigma chapter was installed at the University of Minnesota on April 23, 1926. The chapter became inactive in 1973 and was re-instated in 2006. Epsilon B is the alumni chapter closely associated to the University of Minnesota active chapter.

Source of acquisition

The collection was deposited in University Archives from 1950-1954. Additional deposits were made in 1995, 2007 and 2008.
