Scope and Content

The collection consists of local and national materials, committee papers, correspondence, meeting minutes and session papers, publications and conference reports for the various AAUP chapters at colleges and universities in Minnesota, including the University of Minnesota. Much of the material regarding the University of Minnesota AAUP is arranged separately from the rest of the Minnesota materials (collections 446, 2000-55, 2001-36).

Historical Note

The American Association of University Professors (AAUP) was founded in 1915 to "advance academic freedom and shared governance, to define fundamental professional values and standards for higher education, and to ensure higher education's contribution to the common good." The Minnesota chapter of the AAUP represents faculty at campuses across the state. Annual meetings and the newsletter Minnesota Academeare offered by the Minnesota Chapter to its members.
