Biographical Sketch of Arnold H. Johnson (1896-1993)

Arnold H. Johnson, B.A. (1921), M.A. (1923), Ph.D. (1924) University of Minnesota. Assistant professor (1924-1925) of biochemistry, University of Minnesota. Assistant professor of Cereal Research, Montana State College. President of the National Dairy Research Laboratory (1954), recipient of the C.E. Gray award (1946) and Babcock-Hart award (1960). Member of Advisory Committee on Dairy Research, served on National Research Council, the Nutrition Foundation, and the Agricultural Research Institute. Leading dairy scientist and food technologist.

Arnold H. Johnson was born on November 21, 1896 in Minneapolis, Minnesota. He attended the University of Minnesota and earned a Master of Science in biochemistry and a Ph.D. in philosophy. Johnson joined the National Dairy Research Laboratory, later known as Kraft, in 1930 and later became its president in 1954. He authored many technical papers on dairy products, served the government during World Ward II as a member of the Civil Defense Foods Advisory Committee and The Scientific Advisory Board for the U.S. Army, and received numerous awards for his contributions to research and development for dairy product standards. Arnold H. Johnson died on April 24, 1993.
