Biographical Sketch of Theodore Mentel (b. 1926)

Theodore Joseph Mentel, B.A. (1950) University of Toronto, M.S. (1954), Ph.D. (1956) Brown University. Professor in mechanics and materials, and aeronautical engineering at the University of Minnesota.

Theodore Mentel was born on September 15, 1926 in Bienkowka, Poland. He earned his B.A. from the University of Toronto in 1950. He earned his M.S. in Applied Math in 1954 and his Ph.D. in 1956 from Brown University. From 1950-1952, Dr. Mentel was a research officer for the National Research Council in Ottawa, Canada. Dr. Mentel joined the faculty at the University of Minnesota in 1955 as an assistant professor of mechanics and materials. He was a member of the Institute of Aeronautical Sciences and the Engineering Institute of Canada.
