Historical Note
The Committee on Equal Employment Opportunity for Women (EEOWC) was established as part of the Rajender consent decree in 1980. The EEOWC is a senate committee with members appointed by the University President, and two elected by the faculty. It was established to review the progress of the implementation of the decree, examine policies of the University to determine whether they are biased against women, make recommendations to the University administration and/or senate regarding policies and procedures, reviews statistical reports and other hiring data, and was designed to ensure equal employment opportunities for women on campus. The first meeting of the EEOWC was held on January 29, 1981.
