Historical Note
Tau Beta Pi, a national engineering honor society, was founded in 1885 by Dr. Edward H. Williams Jr. at Lehigh University to recognize students of "distinguished scholarship and exemplary character." On June 9, 1909, Tau Beta Pi established the Minnesota Alpha chapter at the University of Minnesota.
