Biographical Sketch of Daniel W. Sprague ca. 1838-1918
Daniel Sprague graduated from the New York State Normal School in Albany, New York. He came to Minnesota in 1867 after several years of teaching in the east. He was superintendent of the St. Cloud, Rushford, Filmore, and Anoka schools. He also taught at the business college in Minneapolis. In 1882, he went to North Dakota and worked for four years managing a farm. In 1887, Sprague came to the University of Minnesota as an accountant and recorder for the Experiment Station, where he worked until 1890. He went to the Accounting Office in 1890 where he worked in until his death due to pneumonia in 1918.

History of the University of Minnesota Land Grants was donated to the University Archvies on December 8, 1948. The source of acquisition for the remainder of the collection is unknown.
