Edgar D. Brown Papers
Scope and Content
The collection consists of laboratory notebooks and correspondence created by Edgar Brown in his capacity as an expert state's witness in toxicology for crimal court cases. Documentation is divided into two sections; a "Notes" section, which contains laboratory notes for individual autopsies linked to a criminal case, and a "Cases" section, which contains correspondence concerning specific cases. Each section is filed chronologically by date. There is also a Case List appended to the cases section.
The Notes section contain standard descriptions of how the individual toxicology text was conducted, the materials used for testing, and findings. The "Notes" section contains more identified individuals than are in the "Cases" section.
