Biographical / Historical
In 2006, the General College was closed and transformed into the Department of Postsecondary Teaching and Learning in the College of Education and Human Development.
The department offered a Post-baccalaureate Certificate in Innovations in Undergraduate Multicultural Teaching and Learning and a Master of Arts program in Multicultural Teaching and Learning. It also designed and administered the CEHD First Year Experience program, first implemented in 2008.
The department was created to focus on the changing faces of postsecondary education through teaching, research and community outreach. Through the First Year Experience program, PsTL supported undergraduates in the transition to university life. With the M.A. in Multicultural College Teaching and Learning program, the department served graduate students seeking to foster the academic success of underrepresented student populations.
In 2016, PsTL was closed when the College of Education and Human Development realigned faculty and programs from the Department of Postsecondary Teaching and Learning into other departments in the college.
