Scope and Contents
The Academic Health Center Office of Communications works within AHC schools, colleges, centers, and institutes to provide communications support for both internal and external audiences. Services include public relations support, executive communications, websites and publications, special events, internal communications, press releases, and marketing materials. The Office of Communications also produces periodicals for both internal and external audiences, including Pictures of Health and Points of Pride, as well as the electronic publications News Capsules, and Health Talk and You. In addition, the office coordinates the Academic Health presence at the Minnesota State Fair and other special events like groundbreakings.
Materials include brochures and publications, faculty/staff and event photographs, event correspondence and planning, awards, reports, exhibit materials, production files, and presentations.
The collection is arranged by series:
Audio/Visual: This series comprises audio/visual files on a variety of media formats, including magnetic media, Zip disks, and CDs or DVDs. Materials include special video or multimedia productions, digital photographs, including events and faculty/student portraits, and production files for Academic Health Center publications and websites.
Events & Operations: This series includes materials for special events, including special and educational events like the U Discover series and other events related to awards and departmental milestones. This series also includes correspondence related to University tours and visits from government officials.
Historical: This series is contains materials primarily from the early to middle 20th century. This includes material related to the Variety Club, newspaper clippings, and early hospital administrative policies and plans.
Photographs: This series comprises photographic material, including contact sheets, negatives, and photographic prints. In addition, this series contains four subseries: Buildings, Events, Individuals, and General.
Publications: This series contains material related to Academic Health Center publications. This includes special one-time publications and long-term periodicals, like Pictures of Health, Health Sciences, and Medical Bulletin. In addition, this series includes brochures from the various colleges and institutes for promotion and recruitment. Also included are several annual and community reports.
