Biographical / Historical
The Fifteen Club (alternately styled the XV Club or 15 Club) was a social group of young male students who attended Washburn High School in Minneapolis, Minnesota. The group would gather to socialize and play games, notably cards, football, baseball, and basketball, as well as host a spring dance and various fundraisers. It is unclear whether or not this was a Jewish-only group; a number of its members were Jewish and attended Adath Jeshurun Congregation and Temple Israel in Minneapolis. During World War II the group would hold dances to raise money for the Navy Relief fund; a number of alumni of the group fought during World War II. It is unclear how long the club ran -- earliest mention of the group in the American Jewish World newspaper dates to 1934, while the latest date mentioned is from 1963.
