Biographical Note

Author and radio commentator Clara Chapline Thomas Aldrich was born in Richmond, Indiana in 1884. She attended the University of Minnesota where she was an editor of The Gopher and wrote occasional articles for The Minnesota Daily. After graduation in 1900, Aldrich taught classics for three years and then became a reporter and columnist for the Minneapolis Tribune and a radio commentator for WCCO in Minneapolis. She wrote numerous novels, short stories, and articles. Her novel Enchanted Hearts, was adapted for Broadway under the title A Prince There Was, and was later made into a movie of the same title. Aldrich died in 1967 in Minneapolis.
