The collection contains letters from Brenda Ueland to her grandaughter, Alex Boies (née Gray), dated 1960-1967. The collection also includes letters written by Brenda and Annie Ueland to their sister Elsa Ueland dated 1915-1960, as well as various clippings, writings, and photographs of Brenda Ueland.

Biographical Note

Alex Boies is the grandaughter of Brenda Ueland, a notable journalist, editor and writer. Boies' mother, Gabrielle McIver, was the daughter of Brenda Ueland and Wallace Benedict. A bulk of the collection consists of letters from Brenda to Alex sent between 1960-1967.

Collection was donated to the Upper Midwest Literary Archives in 2007 by Alex Boies. Accrauls were received in 2011.
