The collection contains Tweed Museum related papers from the papers of Professor William G. Boyce of the UMD Art Department dated between 1946 and 1984. Included are Tweed Gallery notes, materials from the Tweed's public school program, materials from the Junior League Children's Program, press awards, and much more.

Biographical / Historical

Professor William G. Boyce served as a UMD professor from 1957 to 1985, the director of the UMD Tweed Museum of Art from 1969 to 1984, and head of the Art Department from 1971 to 1974. Professor Boyce joined UMD's faculty in 1957 as an assistant professor and educational curator of the Tweed Gallery. Boyce was instrumental in the construction of Tweed's six gallery spaces, and in the acquisition of more than 3,500 works of art for the museum's permanent collection.
