The collection consists of black and white and color photographs of county commissioner groups from 1961-1976 when Floyd Anderson served on the county board.

Biographical / Historical

Floyd Raymond Johnson (1919-1983), was born and reared in Duluth. He was a captain in the U. S. Army during WWII. He was active in the Democratic Farmer-Labor (DFL) party and Duluth Cerebral Palsy Association. He had memberships in St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Duluth Heights, the Knights of Columbus, the David Wisted Zenith City Post American Legion, West Duluth Moose, the Jackson Senior Club, and the NP Veterans Club. His wife was Florence and his sons James D. and Ronald F. Johnson, all of Duluth.

He was a St. Louis County Commissioner from 1960-1976, and served as chair for two terms. In 1954-1955 he served in the Minnesota Legislature as a representative from the 58th district. He retired from as car inspector for the Burlington-Amtrak railroad system in 1981.
