The collection contains Arrowhead Regional Arts Council board minutes 1976-2012, annual reports and plans, press releases giving results of grants recommended for funding, newsletters, guidelines and development materials for the Council as a grants agency, funded grant applications, applications that were not funded, brochures, a videorecording of a meeting held in Cloquet, Minnesota September 9, 1985, and a few videorecordings of funded activities.

Biographical / Historical
The Arrowhead Regional Development Commission created the Arrowhead Regional Arts Committee in April 1976, in cooperation with the State Arts Board. State legislation enacted in January 1976, had provided for the creation of Regional Arts Task Forces in each region of the State and the State Arts board proceeded to implement the provision through the Regional Development Commissions. From applications received, 16 persons were appointed by the ARDC Board of Directors to serve a one year term on the Committee. The Arts Committee was a committee of the ARDC responsible for reviewing grant applications and making recommendations for funding to the Commission and the State Arts Board. In May 1979, the Executive Committee of the Regional Arts Committee separatee the RAC from the ARDC. With appropriate bylaw and incorporation revisions and adoptions processes completed, the Arrowhead Regional Arts Council was formed in July 1979.
