Scope and Contents
The collection contains two typewritten notebooks, 1911–1924, and a dismantled photograph collection album, 1914–1922, all pertaining to the Mesaba Railway Company. The notebooks include lists of car registration numbers, financial books, bank depositories. Other notes relate to rules and procedure affecting conductors, taxes, wages, payroll invoices, etc. The photograph album includes shots of trackage, railroad buildings, and rail equipment.

Biographical / Historical
Jay O. Bergeson served simultaneously as Auditor, Assistant Treasurer, Purchasing Agent, and General Passenger and Freight Agent of the Mesaba Railway Co., an interurban railway that ran between Hibbing and Gilbert, Minnesota from 1912 to 1927. Bergeson later became Comptroller of the Enterprise Printing and Publishing Company in Virginia, Minnesota.
