Biographical / Historical
Alison Brown was was born and raised in Duluth, Minnesota. During World War I she worked for the war effort in Washington D.C. This work included writing poems for a weekly publication at Walter Reed Hospital. Miss Brown was a member of the Vigilantes, a group of distinguished authors and artists organized during World War I. She wrote three books of poems and her poetry was well known throughout the United States. Alison was the sister of Arthur E. Brown who came to Duluth in 1887.
