Biographical / Historical

Lewis G. Castle was born in Portage, Wisconsin, in 1889. He came to Duluth in 1917 as an organizer of the Duluth Creamery & Produce Company. After serving in World War I, Castle organized the Riverside State Bank of Duluth in 1919. He later became the Assistant Cashier of the Northern Minnesota National Bank of Duluth. Castle was appointed Administrator of the St. Lawrence Seaway Development Corporation by President Eisenhower.
