Scope and Contents
The collection contains a typed diary, scrapbooks, photographs, and miscellany. The diary, 1931-1960, contains a few sentences per day often depicting local current events. The scrapbooks, 1896-1956, include snapshots generally of vacations in northern Minnesota and Wisconsin.

Biographical / Historical
David H. Costello came to Duluth, Minnesota in 1890 from Southampton, Long Island. He worked in a hardware store owned by his uncles, John J. and Richard A. Costello, until he began selling insurance in Duluth.
