Biographical / Historical
The charter commission is a permanent board of the city which drew up the first charter and now makes needed changes in it. The first charter commission was set up in 1897 with members appointed who served until they chose to resign.
The current Commission consists of 15 members serving 4-year terms who are appointed by Judges of District Court. Each member is required to be a qualified voter of the City.
