Duluth Bicentennial Living History Project oral history recordings
Scope and Contents
The collection consists of audiocassette recordings of four individuals discussing their lives and businesses in Duluth, Minnesota. The discussions were recorded in 1975.
Included are:
John Andresen, president of Arco Coffee Company, also known as Andresen-Ryan Coffee Company, a Duluth-based wholesale coffee company located at 14 E. Michigan Street. Mr. Andresen discusses the coffee industry in Duluth.
Larry Gaida, service station operator, Larry Gaida Service Station, Inc. located at 1007 London Road, Duluth. Mr. Gaida, who orginally came from Poland, discusses his start in the service station businesss and running his own business.
Margaret Gaylord, wife of Edward Gaylord, was the daughter of District Judge Henry James Grannis and the daughter-in-law of Duluth photographer Paul Gaylord. Mrs. Gaylord discusses her life, and events during her residence in Duluth. She was interviewed by Sister Noemi and Ethel Hedman.
Peter Olson was 91 years of age at the time of this interview by June Kimball. Mr. Olson worked as an architect and discusses his life as an architect and builder in Duluth.
