Biographical / Historical

The National Child Labor Committee was organized in1904  in New York City by men and women concerned with the plight of working children. The organization sought to gain the support of prominent Americans and to identify the extent and scope of the problem. In 1907 the National Child Labor Committee was chartered by an Act of Congress.

The Duluth Membership Campaign for the National Child Labor Committee raised funds in 1919 and 1920. They had their headquarters and an exhibit in the Everyman's Club at 311 West 1st Street in Duluth. Frank Crassweller was the chairman.
