Scope and Contents

The collection consists of the minutes, Bylaws, Constitution, membership lists, reports and memorabilia of the Society. These items are contained in two scrapbook-like volumes in chronological sequence beginning with news clippings dated 1921. There are a few photographs of the annual Iris show and some members whose flowers received acclaim.

Biographical / Historical

The Duluth Peony Society, a member of the American Peony Society, Inc., organized in 1929 as the Duluth Peony and Iris Society. Bylaws were written in September, 1930. This local society was an affiliate of the Minnesota State Horticulture Society. The Duluth Society hosted the 27th Annual National Peony show of 1930 in the Duluth Armory.
