Duluth-Superior Symphony Association records
Scope and Contents
The collection contains correspondence, minutes, financial records, publicity materials, news clippings and programs. Most of the materials pertain to the Association's early years (1934–1937), though the news clippings extend from 1932–1973. Box 2 contains a set of programs from 1925–1975 and a photograph of the 1932 Symphony Orchestra. Box 3 contains numerous photographs and scrapbooks belonging to Abe Miller who was the manager of the Duluth Symphony for 37 years beginning in 1932. Also included in the collection are two 8mm films taken at Fort William on a Symphony tour.

Biographical / Historical
The Duluth-Superior Symphony Association, formerly the Duluth Civic Symphony Association, was founded in 1934 to promote and support the Duluth (Civic) Symphony Orchestra. James G. Nye was the organization’s first president.
