John Fritzen papers
Scope and Contents
The collection contains handwritten notes on logging and the lumber business, a small amount of correspondence, manuscripts and biographical materials. The lumbering notes, 1945, consist of information collected on early northern Minnesota lumbering companies and individuals. The notes include a listing of lumbering firms in the 1882-1920 Duluth city directories. The following manuscripts are included in the collection:

Biographical / Historical
John Fritzen served 39 years with the Minnesota Division of Forestry, and was superintendent of the Jay Cooke State Park from 1932-1936. He retired in 1962 as head of the Duluth area forestry office. He also served on the Board of Governors of the St. Louis County Historical Society and its Historic Sites Committee.
