Scope and Contents
The collection contains photographs and glass plate negatives of Duluth, Minnesota taken by photographer Paul Gaylord. Subjects for the photographs include schools, businesses, hotels, the Duluth Ship Canal, churches, parks, docks, homes, the East End neighborhood of Duluth, grain elevators, fire halls, streets, floating islands in the harbor, Fond du Lac, Minnesota, the harbor area, Immigrant House, Ojibwe people, Minnesota Point, Oneota, West Duluth, hospitals, waterfront, and streetcars. An inventory for the photographs is included in Box 1 with the photos. The glass plate negatives are not duplicates of the photographs in this collection.

Biographical / Historical
Paul B. Gaylord was a native of Ohio and a photographer in Jefferson, Ohio. He came to Duluth, Minnesota in 1869, continuing in the same business. Gaylord and his wife had four children: Benjamin, Edward, Robert, and Alice.
